# Can I swim with my contact lenses in?

It is best if you don't because there are bacteria in the water that can adhere to your lenses and cause infections. If you do swim in your lenses, you should wear goggles over them and you should disinfect them immediately afterwards.

Absolutely not. Your contacts can absorb bacteria in the pool water increasing the possibility of infection. It's also easy to lose a contact while swimming...

I've worn mine in the pool for 25 years without any infection. I'm guessing the chemicals in the pool aren't great to get in your eye, whether it's got a contact lens in it or not, but they are supposed to kill the germs, yes?
