If it is a sharp pain on the bottom of your foot, it is probably an arch cramp. Before you swim (I'm assuming you're swimming b/c it was in this category), you should do this stretch to prevent foot cramps: stand next to a wall, and stretch your toes on the wall w/ your heel and the ball of your foot on the ground, w/ your knee bent a little bit. Also, drinking lots of water helps prevent cramps.

I also swim and i think you should stretch it at every possible moment. rotate your foot in a circle then put ice on for 20 minutes then off for 20 minutes and then ice on for another 20 minutes and then see how it is. My coach helps me with my foot sometimes. =]

You might try soaking it in some warm Epsom salt water then put some gel pads in your shoes or even try putting baby powders in your shows my husband does this and it seems to help him..OK?
