I have a above ground pool,26x15x54" (9000 gallons approx.) Filled it about a week and a half ago(been raining) now finally have the opportunity to put the chemicals but dont know where to start. I have a starter chemical kit but I m confused to the instructions and want to make sure I get it right since this is my first time and want to use it tomorrow. I use the strip and said alkalinity is at 180, free chlorine is at 0.5/1, and pH is at 8.2. I checked it in one area of the pool only. Please can anyone let me know what I should put in first? All me pool places are closed Sunday and closed early today. TIA

Honestly, our pool place wants us to put a whole laundry list of chemicals in the pool when we open it but we've found it's really not necessary.

We usually just put the chlorine pucks with stabilizer in and let the pump circulate for a couple of hours. Then we check the pH and levels and if everything checks good, we stop there. If the pH needs adjusting, then we do that but we haven't needed to do that yet this year (or at all last year for the matter).
