because the material in the swim suits are acually "scaled"...like a shark or a fishes body is...the small scales in the suit great less friction for the water to glide over it and makeing it better for olymic compitions.

The full body swimsuits produce less drag (resistance) than the human body. The swimsuits that are producing less drag allow the swimer to glide easier through the water therefore the swimmer will be faster in the water.
