You should practice beforehand. Hyperventilating for a few seconds before you go down can help you hold your breath for longer. The brick will feel much lighter than 20 lb when you are underwater. Try to make your body vertical and streamlined when you are diving down so you have less resistance from the water. Don't be scared, the worst thing that can happen is that you can't do it. It isn't worth loosing sleep and panicking over.

youll do fine , idid.that for life guard training, blow little bubbles going down and once you grab the brick push off the flooor blowing your air out and kicking fast up to surface(: youll do great goodluck,
