What is a decent swimming time to swim 500 meters?

I don't swim competitively but I just wonder what is a good speed to aim for when swimming 500 meters?

anything under 50 sec per 50m of the 500m is great for non-swimmers. Anything over 1 min per 50m is poor.

Well first you have to realize that the 500 meter is not an event. There are two options for that distance, it's either 500 yards or 400 meters. A fair time for a 500 yard would be about 5:45 for a girl and about 5:25 for a guy, that is without much training. A 400 meter time for a girl could be between 4:50 and 5:10, of course you have to take in account for age and years of experience.

Well, in competitive swimming, there are certain times you try to get in each event. I'd say a decent time would be a Regional Time (it'll varie depending on you state) The regional time for my state is 6:51:79. That's a pace of about 1:31 for each hundred.
Since you're not a competitive swimmer, I'd say a decent time would be 10:--:--, 8:30:-- or 7:20:-- (1:44 per hundred).

in case you swim plenty and do a similar belongings you receives used to it. even as ur swimming the 5 hundred or 550 in ur case, in simple terms attempt now to not imagine about the way you cant make it because then you genuinely wont and confirm your doing all of your strokes excellent. wish this helped! :)
