Swim Cap Gives Me A Headache?

Hi,

When I go swimming I find that the swim cap hurts my head. It feels like my head is in a vice. When I remove the cap, the headace goes away. I am just thinking the standard cap is too small for my head (or I have a big head), and I was wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives to this problem. I was thinking of just trying to get a larger swim cap, but not sure who makes them and where to get them.

I would say to either try a larger size first, and then switch to a cloth or lycra cap if you can't get another size. However, I would only use a cloth or lycra cap for practice and still use a rubber or silicone cap in a meet.

Well for competition swimming the swim cap makes you have less drag in in the water so you can swim faster. Also girls with long hair don't want hair in there eyes constantly while swimming. I had hair that was long enough to be in my eyes so I needed to wear a swim cap at competitions but now I only swim for exercise and do not need a swim cap.

There are new swim caps in the market now....Go to a swim shop and purchase a GEL Swim Cap.....What I do now is...I wet my hair, saturated hair with conditioner, put on a wide Skin Band, meant to keep the ears warm, then I put on the swim cap.....keeps it from being super tight on the head and around the forehead. Also, keeps the swim cap in place.

Swim caps give me a headache too, atleast the rubber ones do. Thats why I bought one made out of cloth, its comfortable and it doesn't make you go any slower.

It might just be something on your head that is giving you the headache. When I wear a baseball cap or well any hat I get a headache. I think it is the unusual pressure on the head that causes it.

Hi, how long have you used the cap? I actually had a similar feeling, but my cap stretched out eventually. They do stretch out. There is also a type called Lycra. It does not keep the water from your hair, but it still holds your hair back. This is really stretchy and cloth...like wearing spandex on your head! Ha ha. I would say try that out, or just try stretching your Latex one out while watching TV or something.

Silicone.. any swimming brand will carry it..



silicone stretches more.. so it doesnt compress your brain.. or pull your hair like crazy.. It also lasts longer so you dont have to buy one every other month. and it wont allow you hair to get wet as much like cloth caps.. which if you swim a lot you'll appreciate

it is too small. personally i don't use rubber caps. cloth caps are better. do you have long hair that gets in your way during swimming? if not you don't have to wear a cap at all.

For sure, it's due to the cap being too small. I have a couple of baseball hats that are too small that do the same to me.



I'd either use a search engine to see where to purchase a larger size or perhaps check Ebay...

try practicing without a cap and then compete with a cap....it will help in practice because it will add resistance that you will not hve with a cap in competition

i think cus ur caps to tight.. try to get a slightly bigger one.. oh and avoid dark colored caps on a hot day it makes ur head turn hot. and sumtimes the headace is due to dehydration .. drink up ..

p:s dun wear cloth caps.. it gives u a bigger headeace

Check out Speedo and don't use the rubber kind - try using a cloth one.

use a different style cap. like the silicone. that always worked best for me.

there are caps for people w/ alot of hair from speedo which are bigger.....but i think ur googles are just too tight
