This is dependant on the type of longboard skateboarding you want to do. If you want a cruise around town and do a little downhilling you could go with a shorter longboard say about 38-42" inches in length. This shorter board will help you turn better when you are on the flats pushing around and will also handle speeds up to about 30MPH without losing too much stability. If speed is your game then you will want a longer stiffer longboard that can handle the speed. Most full size longboards are 46" inches in length.

everyone loves sector nine because everyone knows about it. you can go to zumies and pick one up for a cheap price. honestly sector nine sucks. its for the people that dont know crap about longboarding and want to be cool. if you want something that is good quality get an arbor board. those are for true longboarders. as for downhill and sliding, i agree with captain wiggles

it depends on what kind of longboarding you will be doing. if you want a cruiser, then sector nine is the way to go. but if you are doing more down hill stuff, go for landyachtz
