I just turned 15. i had been swimming competitively for about 5 years (when i was in grades 3 to 6) then i just stopped. i was a really great swimmer and i won first place medals on swim meets for fly and breast stokes.

since then, i have not practised any of my skills.

recently, my school swim team began having tryouts. i could tell i really sucked and have lost all/ most of my abilities. also my endurance was gone! i had a hard time swimming 50 m. is there any way to recover in 2 weeks?

well go on your own and start swimming for those two weeks... work on your form and breathing... you will get stronger and hopefully you will be able to make the cut... if you dont make the cut dont give up practice for next year

alright the people before my told u to do breathing exercises. that is fine and all, but u said u need more endurance. im a uni swimmer and u need to get into the pool and start doing some laps. swim for a few hours, run for a hour, and start pumping weights each day. if u are a serious swimmer u will do anything to get yr body ready. u said u only have 2 weeks but do whatever u can. just work on yr endurance first, then once u make the team work on yr technique. hope i helped, good luck! to be honest, it will be very difficult but if you put your mind to it, it could be possible to regain some of your lost fitness. first up is that you need pool access--you will have to swim every day for the next 2 weeks, maybe twice a day if you're up to it. breathing exercises are all good and fine but you really just need to regain your feel for the water. i suggest swimming for at least an hour and a half each day, doing longer swims (500 m if you can make it, 200 if not) and some short sprints (50/100 m). you won't feel good for the first week but it WILL help.

as long as you're in the water for the next two weeks, you will be fine. good luck at tryouts!

I would first try to do some breathing exersizes. I would do this about 4 times a day. Breathe in as much as you can and hold for 3 secomds, then breath out as much as you can then hold for 3 seconds. then breath en and out keep doing this about 6 times. On the same days doing these breathing exersises, go and swim some laps on your own. If you can try to go every day for best results! I know it seems a little chalenging but if you keep this up you should improve. Good luck!

Just practice working on your strokes and breathing and make sure you take breaths every now and then when you swim your strokes. If you go every day and swim for an hour max working on breathing and your strokes, then you should get stronger. Good Luck! :)

Just practice, go for it, i sucked at swimming about a year ago, but when i joined my swim team, the coaches helped me, that's what they are for, just tell them you want to join but you'll need help.

I would start with breathing exercises.I learned one where you take 5 deep breaths and then dive under water for as long as you can and just keep doing that it will help get your lungs use to it.
