I went off a rope swing, forgot to put away my glasses, and my glasses are now somewhere in an area about 6.5 ft deep. I'm not a great swimmer and it's very difficult to see in the lake because it's a bit dirty. Anyway, where can I go in southern NH to rent scuba gear?

Oh and by scuba gear I mean snorkel and a tank. My friend says all I need is a snorkel but without 20/20 vision and a dirty lake, how could I see it without a tank of oxygen to look for it for 10 to 30 mins at the most.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as those glasses are $200 bucks and had them since 8th grade.

Thanks,

It's clear from your question that you're not a certified diver (if you were, then for a start you'd know that SCUBA cylinders usually hold air, not oxygen). That being so, then no reputable dive shop owner is going to rent gear to you.

If you didn't have a driver's licence, you wouldn't expect a car rental agency to rent out a car to you--even if you promised just to drive it round the car park--would you? The principle is exactly the same here: a diving certification proves that you know (or at least, that at some point in the past you were taught) how to use SCUBA gear safely (because underwater, what you don't know CAN kill you).

Look at it from the dive-shop's point of view--if they rented gear out to an uncertified individual, and that individual then has an accident because they don't know how to use the gear, the dive-shop will likely get sued by that individual (or their family). Since this happens even with certified divers, can you imagine how much higher the risk is for uncertified divers?

So you need to find a certified diver who'll salvage your glasses for you, for less than it cost to buy them in the first place (I'd do it for beer, but I'm on the wrong continent, sorry).

Good luck.

There is Discover Diving in Atkinson NH that rents out gear. But like most places I believe you need to be a certified diver to rent.

Good luck

You're simply asking this for the reason that "Darwin Day" is bobbing up on Feb 12. ... so allow's pass with Darwin. Adam noticed fish and referred to as them fish ... Eve then went to the kitchen and made gefilte fish. Chuck Darwin got here alongside a couple of millennia later and determined that each and every residing factor in the world traced it is roots again to a couple protoplasm in a small swamp in southern west Dakota that mated with a monkey in northern east Ireland. Darwin was once formally COE, however grew up Unitarian ... later fitting agnostic (no longer atheist). Do observe the name of his paintings: "On the Origin of Species" (no longer "Origin of Life") ... and, hello Chuck, how does the survival of the fittest paintings whilst you marry your possess cousin?
